POEMS & PROSES - Wix Cover.png

I hope you not ever tread the path I chose,
Nor seek a fleeting freedom in the shadows.
I was foolish, once lost in my own greed,
And through a weary heart that sought to bleed.

For the decades passed, enduring the sting,
A fraught plea to learn what life may bring.
To hope that pain wouldn’t have had me in chain,
Then to romanticize sorrow as to nurturing pain.

Strange comfort found in every drop shed,
Whilst numbness cloaked like a dread.
“Never follow me”, I stumbled, unproud,
A reckless decision, lost among the crowd.

I sought relief not for the world to share,
But one to escape a weight I couldn’t bear.
Like verses from my past I’m constantly tracing,
Returning life’s debt, while hope seemed replacing.

With love poured out for all who crossed my way,
I bid farewell, here’s the final words I say.
“In the shadows cast, I find peace at last.
Now, I’m gone, my echo is fading fast.”

Original piece written around February 2019.
