TO THE LOVE WE DESERVE

It often starts with an admiration that makes our hearts leap with joy, then progresses to something more—something deeper, a fleeting feeling we call love.

Perhaps love really comes in all forms, the one that delights us in every way. We may even see love as a connection with one another, a kind of bond that holds two people together with a glimmer of trust and an overwhelming amount of hope that it will last… And that it is something that will save us from the fall.

It could. It might.

Until you began to believe that what’s in front of you is a certain kind of love you deserve. You start to tolerate all actions done and words spoken even if it breaks you, and even if it torments you in every possible and littlest way it could—draining you out with the tiniest bit of hope in love, not even in happiness.

You’d wonder why you’d have to endure the pain you deal with in situations and circumstances, never realizing that maybe—possibly—you have strongly reckoned that it’s just how love should be. You break and bend countless times for a person who never sees himself accountable for your grief and heartaches, because for you… It’s okay, it will always be okay.

You tolerated it. Presumably, that’s the problem. You tolerated it enough to affirm to anyone that whatever they do will be alright, because that’s how you perceive love and how you should be loved. Blindsided in believing that you deserve the kind of love you continuously and profusely tolerate.
